It seems like every new parent out there is trying to one-up each other on how "literate" their child is. We're reading to them before they're even born! But just because you want your child to be a future Nobel Prize winner doesn't mean you should be handing down weighty tomes you've been meaning to read for years.
There are several books that have been favorites in our house since our kids were too small to even sit up. These ones have all stood the test of time and teeth!
Nature Friends Lift-a-Flap Boxed Set 4-Pack by Ginger Swift

This set of books has gotten more love at our house than any other! The chunky pages and flaps make these great for the smallest of babies. I was surprised at what a young age my children were able to participate in turning the pages, but credit the thickness of these books for making it a simple task.
A similar format to a book called "Babies Love Colors" that I describe in a separate post, I highly recommend these types of books for their durability. Removing and replacing the books in the box makes for a fun motor skill activity as well.
Will You Be My Sunshine by Julia Lobo
The pages in this next book aren't as grippable, but the content will capture your heart. Will You Be My Sunshine is a heartwarming tale of the love between a parent and child. Living in the upper midwest, we get our share of cold weather. As I write this, we are anticipating 1 to 2 feet of snow over the next 48 hours. This book gives cuddles and cocoa vibes.
I Love You Like No Otter by Rose Rossner
A recent addition to our collection, although my kids are no longer babies, this book is full of kid-friendly puns and adorable illustrations. Baby animals of all kinds fill the pages of this sweet read.
